The 2018 Hyundai Creta is a great addition to the midsize urban SUV market

The new Creta got over 14,000 bookings within 10 days of it being launched.

Ever since it hit the road back in 2015, there has been no looking back for the Creta. Now offered with a series of changes, it has only gotten better and frankly it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that the new Creta got over 14,000 bookings and 70,000 inquiries within 10 days of it being launched.

Fresh design
Hyundai has made a few tweaks to the design of the vehicle to ensure that the SUV looks even better than before. Taking centre stage is the new grille that boasts of a bold new look and is a size larger as well. The chrome treatment adds to its imposing presence and it sure looks more upmarket than before. The other changes include the new projector lights, LED DRLs around the fog lamps, the restyled front bumper, larger skid plates and new 17-inch wheels.

Feature rich
The Creta cabin is a rather nice place to be. The dashboard boasts of a neat layout and the fit and finish is exactly what you would expect from a vehicle in this price bracket. The cabin is spacious and five adults can fit comfortably on board. To add an element of airiness, the top-of-the-line model gets a sunroof which is bound to delight customers.

In terms of features, you get a revised touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, cruise control and a rearview camera. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink are also part of the package as is a smart keyband that allows you to open and lock the SUV. Incidentally, this band also doubles up as a fitness tracker!

Optimal performer
The car’s diesel variants come powered with the tried and tested 1.6-litre CRDi unit. The engine is capable of delivering 128 PS of power and 265 Nm of torque. The new SUV is also offered with the 1.6-litre VTVT petrol mill that delivers 123 PS of power and 154 Nm of torque. Both engines are offered with manual and automatic transmission options and are touted to be rather efficient as well.

On point
Overall the new Creta is a vehicle that wins you over. It is a practical choice and comes with a host of safety features which include ABS, dual front airbags, and electronic stability control. It is built well, looks great, and is an ideal choice for many. The Creta range starts from `9.4 lakh and goes up to `15 lakh.
