Mithila
The handwoven sari store plays host to Vishal Kapur Design Studio which is known to explore a new craft each year. This time around, Gujarat-based designer Vishal offers his own take on Ajrakh prints and Kalamkari work through his latest collection. Working with artisans from Srikalahasti in Telangana and from a village near Surat, the designer has conceptualised a line of saris and fabrics that are a mix of Kota cotton, Chanderi silk and Mangalgiri silk. Naturally dyed, the block prints, Vishal says, are traditional but presented in a modern way. One of the highlights from the collection is the range of Kota silk-linen saris that are digitally printed with hand-drawn Kalamkari work. Rs.4,000 upwards. Until Saturday. At Residency Road

Chennai-based Silkworm Boutique is perfect for those looking for something a bit more traditional. The store’s annual pop-up in Bengaluru will include pure silk Benarasi, Kanjeevaram and tussar saris. Rs.3,000 upwards. July 30 & 31. At Sankey Road

Ambara
Chakori Ethnic, a Bengaluru-based studio, will showcase its latest range of saris sourced from weavers in Varanasi and Bihar. The textiles the label has worked with includes silks, silk linen and tussar. All handwoven, a defining piece from the line is a fuchsia pink Benarasi katan sari with kadhua motifs. Rs.4,000 upwards.
