Mumbai’s Aquamarine is now in Bengaluru

One can’t write off Aquamarine as just another semi-precious jewellery brand. Affordable and chic, the Mumbai-based label has everyone from Madhuri Dixit and Mandira Bedi to Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde frequenting its stores, after all. With multiple outlets across the country, it opened its first outpost in Bengaluru at Kamaraj Road.

Started by husband-wife duo, Santosh and Khushi Bathija in 2005, Aquamarine is an extension of Colaba-based Popli Art Gallery. “The gallery is the brainchild of my father Sukhlal Bathija, and was launched in the ’90s,” shares Santosh. After having set up shop in Colaba, Santosh then expanded to Breach Candy, Bandra and Lokhandwala in Mumbai, and Delhi and Hyderabad.

The Bengaluru store is run by Santosh’s cousins, Sapna and Amit Achpal, and Amit’s wife Krisha Achpal. The shelves on the ground level are a veritable treat with a mix of European-inspired and traditional pieces. “All our jewellery is designed to make a statement,” shares Krisha as she shows us around the store. Besides meenakari and kundan work, there’s a lot of attention given to designs that are current. A portion of the store is dedicated to Victorian-style necklaces fitted with cultured pearls in shades of white and grey. If you prefer brighter colours, their range of rings, cuffs, bangles and earrings also use onyx, hematites, rose quartz, flourites and citron.

Spread across two floors, only the lower floor is currently operational. Minerali, the brand’s designer jewellery section will occupy the upper floor in a few weeks.

Rs.1,000 upwards. At Kamaraj Road
