Jewellery designer, Radhika Jain, who helms the label MiRA (pronounced My-Ra), has attempted to create more than a fashion statement for her upcoming collection. Titled Adi Shakti, her creations are an ode to the duality of womanhood, which is at times nurturing and then again she has all the qualities of a fighter. The Kolkata-based designer will be presenting her designs at the showroom edit section on February 2 at the ongoing Lakmé Fashion Week  Summer Resort 2018 in Mumbai. Soon after, her Hyderabad-based buyers can shop for them themed jewellery in a couple of weeks at Also Boutique, Banjara Hills.

Make a statement
“These accessories go well with clothes in solid colours with simple cuts,” says the designer, adding that her statement pieces are crafted to spruce up plain outfits. The motifs in her repertoire are inspired by softness of flowers, petals and pollen grains that depict the feminine side of mother nature. The warrior princess quality is highlighted by the fierce body and hand harnesses she has crafted. One look at the maang tikas and you know they will be loved by bold fashionistas who would rather stand out than  fit in. However, one has to keep it in mind that most of her jewellery apart from the earrings and rings can’t be worn as daily wear; keep them aside for a cocktail evening.

Break the monotony
She has used gold-plated brass and copper with pearls for her statement pieces. The binary of feminine energy is again brought out by the metals the designer has used. Gold-plated brass and copper have been used by her karigars to make the stern body chains and ear cuffs with pearls breaking the monotony and representing the dual nature of her jewellery. Expect a range of handcuffs, dramatic ear cuffs, rings and body chains. What one notices is that she has attempted to give a contemporary twist to traditional accessories like maang tika and that makes the pieces from Adi Shakti stand out.
