Swathi  Ravindran's maiden Signature Pop-up Bazar kicks off tomorrow

The first edition Signature Pop-up Bazar offers a choice of apparel, accessories and food from 30 city labels

A quick run through of the list of brands at Swathi Ravindran’s maiden Signature Pop-up Bazar and you know that you have all your fashion bases covered and then some. Hosting 30 first-time home entrepreneurs, the two-day event will see homegrown brands specialising in hand-loomed textiles, handcrafted footwear, bespoke ethnic wear, handmade soaps and organic farm produce take rack space at the 22,000 sq. ft. Dwarka Inn.

“The idea behind the pop-up was to provide a space for entrepreneurs to showcase their products. You’d be surprised at the number of startups in the city,” says the 26-year-old, adding, “The curation process was also carried out carefully. Though some of the brands reached out to us after we  planned to conduct the bazaar, most of the labels belong to entrepreneurs we know.”

Putting the spotlight on Indian textiles, Silhouette by Radha Balasubramaniam and Suja Ravindran will showcase saris and salwars made from hand blocked ikat, tie and dye and kalamkari. Also, on display by the three-month-old label are fabrics from across weaving centres in AP, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.

Allure, another city-based label by 17-year-old Vishnika Ravindran and 18-year-old Harrshi Padmanaban, will bring together an assortment of Jaipur juttis and silver trinkets. “They are the youngest at the bazaar,” shares the Bristol University graduate. Also look out for Sherlin Firdhose’s label Arha’s Indo-Western wear.

While apparel and accessories make up for a majority of labels, keep an eye out for food stalls by B’s Cafe—Swathi’s own venture— and Blenders Inc which are expected to be favourites.
