Floral fetish: Check out the luxury expo Botanical Illusions

On Saturday, jewellery designer Ananya Malhotra from Chennai and Shriya Bhupal from Hyderabad, who spearheads the label Shriya Som, will come together to celebrate minimalism and floral patterns. On display will be the former’s fine jewellery and a mix of couture by the latter at the luxury bridal exhibition, Botanical Illusions.

Couture calling
Shriya will showcase her made-to-measure ensembles from two of her collections: last year’s Ebb and Flow and her latest Lakme Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017 collection, The Vignette. “You can find a mix of bridal gowns and indo-western outfits which could be worn at sangeet-mehndi dos and cocktail parties,” says Shriya, who returned to the city this week after a successful show at LFW, Mumbai. Speaking about how she decided to collaborate with Ananya, the couturier says, “I met her a few years ago before we started our labels and decided to work together one day since we share similar aesthetics.” Ebb and Flow mostly consists of flowy evening dresses, gowns, full volume skirts with crop tops in hues like onion pink, nude, tangerine, rogue red, ink blue and black. While this collection is more dreamy and romantic, her current LFW collection will comprise modern silhouettes like midis, bomber jacket, and body con dresses.

Minimalist measures
Shriya’s collection makes for an irresistible combination with Ananya’s subtly thought out designs. Crafted in 18-karat gold, most of the earrings, rings and bracelets come in white gold and a select few in yellow and rose gold. “The collaboration is a celebration of our craft. We are both are inspired by floral elements,” says the designer who studied at Central Saint Martins, London. From intricately designed minimalist chain bracelets to neck pieces, one can expect dainty floral motifs on all the creations. The designer who is displaying her collection in the city for the first time will bring five of her small collections: Tala, The Nazar Talisman, Balance, Celestial Lotus and Lotus Samsara. Her designs, crafted with young brides in mind are encrusted with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and mother of pearl.

The exhibition will be held at Taj Krishna.
