Hers is the brand of choice if you are looking for minimalisti

c, easy-to-wear outfits featuring loose cuts and anti-fit silhouettes. Delhi-based designer Sunita Shanker’s latest collection from her eponymous label, being showcased at Amethyst this weekend, will feature all this and more with her new spring line including a range of kurtas, tunics, crop tops, stoles and pants.
Ever since her foray into the fashion industry in 1994, this NIFT graduate has advocated the cause of traditional textile techniques, combining her design aesthetics with native artisanal crafts. “My approach towards design has always been minimal. Most of the time, we tend to go overboard with our designs and lose out on the beauty of the craft or the design itself. My fashion sensibility has allowe

d me to strike a balance, thereby making sure that the craft gets its due importance,” says Sunita. With colour palettes ranging from reds and blacks to indigos, and a majority of off-whites, the Spring Embroidered Vintage Botanical collection includes kantha work, chikan embroidery and the designer’s staple bandhini prints in cotton and chanderi silk fabrics.
Sunita, who was here last year too, tell us to expect, “over garments like pintuck or bandhini jackets”. Perfect to throw over a pair of jeans and tee-shirt or a churidar — these could go well as standalone pieces too.
Rs 8,000 onwards. At Amethyst. Till February 28. From 11 am to 7.30 pm. Details: 45991630
