FOR  those fashionable folks who prefer shopping from top-notch prêt and couture labels, luxury showcase, Fashion Yatra, has much to offer. The exhibition which is in its 13th year, is not only frequented by socialites and celebrities but is also the chosen platform for designers to unveil their new collections. For instance, this time guests will be able to catch a glimpse of Jaipur-based designer Punit Balana’s upcoming collection, Malang Rouh, even before it hits the stores.  Apart from high-end couturiers, edgy footwear labels and home décor brands would also be showing at the expo. Also, the organisers follow the notion of fashion for a cause. Some of the proceeds incurred from the one-day fiesta are directed towards a charity that works for towards educating underprivileged kids, Teach for Change.

Cue for couture
Amongst some  of the most anticipated collections are that of designers Purvi  Doshi  and  Rishi and Soujit. Ahmedabad-based  Purvi is known for her revivalist sartorial techniques. She uses khadi to design traditional yet modern ensembles and her oversized dresses with slits and long shirt-style outfits have already become quite the rage among fashionistas. “My collection, Hues in the Sun, incorporates outfits with modern cuts. The ensembles are available in shades such as yellow, green and peaches to brighten up your monsoon,” adds the designer whose creations have adorned the likes of Sonam Kapoor,  Radhika  Apte and  Rakul  Preet.  Kolkata-based designer duo Rishi and Soujit are bringing their new line of Indo-Western prét. “We are bringing a line of ethnic wear crafted out of the sustainable Begumpur cotton. The cuts are contemporary, the vibe is young but we stuck to traditional embroidery on our apparel,” says Rishi, adding that top picks from their line would be crop tops, ghagras and jackets.
