Mad Over Burgers in Hyderabad has some scrumptious options

Burgers and street food? If you thought they don’t go together, think again

“This one is named after one of our first customers who gave us the idea of a double-patty chicken burger,” Sundeep Mattaparti informs, as I dig into Rohan’s Chicken Beast Burger at the all-new tri-cycle food cart, Mad Over Burgers (MOB), located in West Marredpally. The medium-sized burger with two chicken patties has a generous amount of mayo and spicy ketchup, making it flavoursome. Opened barely two weeks ago by a group of four lawyers, this eatery offers French fries, hot dogs and four varieties of burgers. For most Marredpally residents, including me, the opening of MOB is happy news, as it is one of the few eateries around this locality that serves burgers.

Sundeep, a Marredpally resident himself, adds, “If I ever wanted to eat a good burger, I would have to travel a minimum of two to three kilometres to visit a cafe or a restaurant. With MOB, we wanted to make burgers an affordable street food option.” Looking at groups of school-goers surround the stall, MOB has made quite a good start, I think. I also try their Chicken Burger with their signature cream sauce that went through about four rounds of experiments. The chargrilled patty is paired with barbecue sauce, vinegar soy sauce, spices and caramelised onions. The buns, toasted with butter, are extremely soft. As per the taste of the guest, burgers are customised with roasted mushrooms, caramelised onions and a variety of sauces – mayonnaise, chilli ketchup and tomato ketchup and mustard-mayo mix. Although they began with a basicmenu, Sundeep says the team has plans to introduce new dishes and make it more elaborate. “Soon, we plan to have milkshakes and pasta,” says Sundeep.
