Amethyst has a charity bake sale this weekend, and we can't stop drooling!

If you’re craving some baked goodness, block your calendar for the Second Annual Charity Bake Sale at Amethyst this weekend. More than 30 home bakers and chocolatiers will be displaying their creations. And, this time, the sale is bigger and spicier: expect creamy cakes and crumbly cookies, as well as nachos, quiches and dips. 

“The previous edition went well and this year, people wanted more savoury options,” says Aparna Guhan Shyam, the founder and managing trustee of the Tiara Haemophilia and Cancer Foundation which organises the sale.

As a part of the savoury options, Good ol’ Cakes will be selling pesto rolls and pizza rolls in addition to their cakes. This time, vegan treats are also on the cards. Baker’s Nook is bringing nachos of all colours: Popeye, Betacarotene and Beetroot. There’s a burnt garlic yoghurt dip and pumpkin hummus to go with the nachos.

If you have a sweet tooth, you’re probably wondering about chocolates and brownies. Amethyst will be displaying their Sachertorte — first baked for a Viennese prince in 1832, this dessert with apricot jam filling is one of the most famous chocolate cakes in the world. 

Some of Chennai’s well-known home bakers are back with their best treats: Fresh Baked Goodness and their eggless six-layer theobroma jars, Mistletoe’s gooey chocolate mini cakes and more. Apart from the decadent desserts, in this edition, “you can also find healthier options like Zucchini loaves,” says Aparna.The proceeds from the sale will go towards funding the treatment of children affected by haemophilia and cancer.
