If you love Bob Marley, and food just as much, Raasta Cafe is the eatery you must try

This all-new cafe in Jubilee Hills has everything from interiors, good music to delicious food that can make even dull days better.

On a rather boring Monday, we make our way to Raasta Café, which is quite an easy miss, considering it’s situated in a building that also accommodates other popular restaurants. However, as we enter the eatery decked with beautifully painted umbrellas and inspired by the Rastafarians, we feel a smile form on our lips. The first thing that catches our eye is the cut-out of Jamaican reggae legend  Bob Marley and the wall art of a man riding his bike with a tri-coloured (green, yellow and red) flag.  Founder, Aneet S Bagga shares, “We tried to bring in the old school music vibe through wall art and props like record disks.”

Sip and dine
We browse through the sizable menu that offers a mix of Indian, Chinese, continental, tandoor and a few reggae dishes like reggae burgers and special combos. To begin with, we opt for Signature Basil Mocktail. Served in a horn-shaped glass, the flavours of fresh basil and mint meld smoothly, making it a refreshing concoction.

While sipping on it, we try their Paprika Chicken. The spicy starter with tender-cooked chicken pieces goes perfectly with the drink. Those looking for some fruit-based mocktail can try the  Traditional Raasta Special (a mix of mint, ginger, lemon, strawberry and mango).

Next up is the Dal Chawal Cheese Balls (morsels of home-cooked dal rice and cheese are fried and topped with olives). This one is quite a fusion dish that retains the tastes of dal chawal, blending it perfectly with cheese. Our recommendations include Stuffed Cheese Mushrooms, Rasta Chicken and Finger Fish.

Pass the pasta
Moving on to the main course, we opt for a rather interesting dish, Pizza By Flames. “This one is an experimental dish. We use a spirit (whisky, here) and heat up the glass to create flames and pour it over the pizza,” Aneet shares. After the excitement of setting the pizza fire, we take a bite of it. Though the flavour of whisky in the Chicken Tikka Pizza isn’t overwhelming, this one is strictly for those who do not mind experimenting with their dish.

From the entrée, we also taste Penne Alfredo. Served with a slice of garlic bread, the pasta is flavoursome and could be your go-to dish, if you want to play it safe.

Overall, the spacious and warmly lit café with a good mix of food is worth a visit.
