Boudoir balance: The do's & don'ts from a feng shui expert

Tried everything, and yet relationships are a major issue in your life? Well, relationships, be it within the family or the outside world are quite important, as we cannot live life in solitary confinement. Some homes have serious differences in their relationships, and in many other homes, it turns out to be nothing more than a clash of ego, leading to illogical and irrational behaviour.

Many have a wonderful life outside their home, bubbling with enthusiasm and positivity, but seem to be drained; spirits dampened, highly charged up and irritated, waiting for a reason to fight and argue the minute they are back home, especially in the bedroom.

Well it’s easy to break a relationship, but it takes years to build and when we act impulsively, it just takes few seconds to throw away all the positive things the relationship provides. There is so much spoken about bedroom feng shui, but one other important aspect of vaastu and feng shui is not just the bedroom, location and sleeping direction, but the exact positioning of the bed away from the geomagnetic fields. The earth is encompassed by geomagnetic fields, and these grids cause immense disturbance and distort the energy fields of the occupants when they sleep  or work from such ‘danger zones’.

We cannot fight against these danger zones or counter them. We can possibly deflect them slightly, if we are unable to relocate the bed, or a more intelligent approach would be to re-position the bed and avoid these danger spots.

Other aspects pertaining to the bedroom, which need to be monitored, are the décor and furnishing within the room, to generate a supportive environment and strengthen the relationship, without distorting the energy fields.

Good bedroom décor would be to have a bedside table on either side of the bed, with a separate bedside light. A heavily cluttered bedroom represents stagnation and disconnection bringing in feelings of anger, confusion, and tiresomeness and will overwhelm its occupants.

Any obstacle to the bedroom door, preventing it from opening and closing properly, and if the area behind the door is cluttered, is said to block all your efforts, making you feel frustrated. Clutter inside your closet is a sign of unwillingness to examine your emotions, and clutter around the bedside is a sign of desire to escape from reality, and behave unreasonably.

Next, look at the bed itself. Is it filled with too many blankets, pillows or stuffed soft toys? That’s a clear indication that you have no room for anyone else in your life. Make room for your partner and remove unwanted objects to rejuvenate your relationship, and bring in a sense of mutual respect and love. Create a serene and blissful atmosphere by adapting décor that is slightly yin — a little dark, quiet and cool. This ensures a sanctuary for good rest, love, relationship, mutual respect, and a feeling of security. Low lighting with drapes of solid patterns and muted colours can further accentuate the feel of the space.

All this and a lot more can be achieved through proper orientation, positioning and décor, avoiding the negative zones. Finally, make it a point to ensure you don’t share your bed with a toilet wall.
