The art and science of Chinese metaphysics known as feng shui has a strong influence on many facets of a building and its occupants. Each of the compass directions in feng shui has a specific significance and relates to the aspirations of the occupants.Feng shui associates the north-west direction as the patriarch corner and is the most important section for the family as it affects the luck of the family in many ways.
The direction relates to the breadwinner and is considered quite essential for advancements of careers, enhancement of income and the support of mentors. If the north-west corner of a house is missing, a serious feng shui affliction and one should focus on correcting it to ensure continued prosperity for the family.
One could use mirrors to visually ‘extend’ the missing north-west if the wall is part of a dining or living room. Ensure that the mirror covers the entire wall and is not too small or too low. Avoid mirrored tiles that create breaks in image. One could also use bright lights in the missing corner and it would be a lot easier if you have garden as wecould place a light fairly high up — as high as the height of the house itself.

Suspend an all metal wind chime of six rods at the north-west of the living or dining area to enhance and strengthen the metal element relating to the north-west section. Metal bells in north-west are also considered a good enhancer as bells are symbols of good reputation and the presence of one such bell in a home bringsin propitious good fortune for the family.
The north-west corner gets afflicted badly when you have kitchen or a store room and more so a stove or open fire. You could overcome this affliction by suspending five rods, all-metal wind chimes and also place an urn of water at the north-west corner of the kitchen to quench the ‘flames’ in the wrong sector.
In addition, you could also hang a picture of a large mountain to symbolise the earth in this area as earth in the area strengthens the metal element. If the north-west sector is well maintained and strengthened as per feng shui, it ensures that you not only have all around mentor support but an excellent career path with many opportunities and countless mentors.
