Turn your frying pan into a clock!

At Pinearts Interior Studio, frying pans tell time and tennis balls hang your clothes
Turn your frying pan into a clock!

If you’re on the verge  of giving away your grandfather’s clock or feel sentimental about selling your first car — a conversation with these ladies might change your mind. Sejal and Trishlaa Jain share a common passion for transforming the old into classy, vintage gold. “In the past we’ve turned tawas into clocks, tennis balls into wall hangers and vehicle tires into seats,” says Sejal, all of 22.

After close to 50 freelance projects, including interiors for an apartment within the upscale real estate project Hiranandani on OMR - the duo opened shop in Kilpauk recently, with a space called Pinearts Interior Studio. The girls who met while studying interior design at Punjab Technical University admit that being in their early 20s has possibly been a bigger obstacle with clients than the logistics of any project so far. But over time, they have found a niche with refurbishing spaces by renovating old furniture.

On this front, Sejal says, clocks are functional and serve as an accessory which both of us feel can be a highlight on a wall. Between a customised range of time pieces based on the interiors of your space to upcycling heirlooms passed on, the girls have found uses for frying pans, cycle rims, even wood thown away after cyclone Vardah, since the final semester of their time in college, three years ago. “When we thought of what we could use, the first thing that came to mind was the scrap which we have in our store rooms,” recalls Sejal. Incidentally, also a National Level Skater with over 550 medals — we’re curious to see what funky home décor  creation will be borne from her four pairs of childhood skates!

Products can be bought off the shelf or customised to order. Price: Rs 500 to Rs 50,000. At 25B, Landons Road, Kilpauk.Details: www.pinearts.in
