If you thought that your Fitbit was the only way to track the progress you’ve been making for a ‘hot bod’ — get a load of this. Since the start of the New Year, which as everyone knows is when most fitness resolutions are made, popular dine-out-and-delivery platform Swiggy has expanded the scale of tracking fitness progress by  observing food-ordering patterns of seven cities in India. On World Health Day, you would be happy to know that Chennai rolled in as number two on the list, right behind Mumbai, and according to the study loves watermelon juice almost as much as biryani. Who would have thought?

Believe it or not, Mumbai’s top health conscious orders include sprout and feta chicken salads, Bengaluru loves its oats, Hyderabad and Kolkata thrive on chicken ‘sprinkled’ shawarmas and Pune can’t enough of tofu grilled toast!

As per the study, healthy food orders are 25 per cent more commonly placed during breakfast than through the rest of the day. Not to mention that consumers between the age of 25 to 34 are more likely to order healthy food than any other age group.

Also, ladies, here’s something we have going for us —  according to the Swiggy study, women in Indian cities are 15 per cent more likely to order a healthy meal online than the average male. Meaning, men, you may want to listen up — running over a menu with your girlfriend might actually cost you less time
on the treadmill.

India's fav healthy orders:

  • Watermelon and orange juice top items for breakfast
  • Protein-based salad (in Paneer and chicken variants) for dinner
  • Fresh fruit juices, fruit salads for breakfast and snacks
