The third generation Bentley Continental GT is set to become the definitive statement amongst luxury vehicles. In its new avatar, the extravagant tourer has been boldly reimagined to suit the evolving tastes of customers globally and now boasts of a sharper, more purposeful appeal.
Bold design
Taking inspiration from the EXP 10 Speed concept car, the new model carries a muscular exterior design that is sharper, yet unmistakable as a Bentley. To allow such a bold design, its aluminium skin has been crafted using Super Formed technology – a precision technique working with aluminium heated to 500°C, which allows designers to invoke more complex, sharply defined body lines. In fact, the Continental GT is the first production car ever to have an entire body side made from this process. Other key highlights of the design include the signature power line that runs from the headlight all the way to the rear haunch, LED Matrix head lights, 21-inch wheels, and an all-new rear style with elliptical taillights.
Luxurious cabin
The interior gets four seats and improved luggage capacity. Special attention to detail includes the
‘diamond-in-diamond’ leather pattern, tailored carpets and the use of high-end materials to sculpt the dashboard and centre console. This includes chrome details and sustainably-sourced veneers.
In fact, over 10 sq metres of wood are used in each Continental GT and it takes nine hours to create and fit the wooden inlays by hand. Add to that, the driver-focused instrument panel and Bentley’s rotating Display are also part of the standard package. This includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen that flips out in style. Creature comforts also include a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen system.
Performance DNA
At the heart of the new automobile is the latest enhanced version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine, mated, for the first time, to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, for faster, more efficient gear changes. Capable of generating 635 PS of power and 900 Nm of torque, the vehicle can go from 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 333 kmph. The car also gets a dedicated Sport Launch mode in order to deliver maximum acceleration from standstill quite like a race-style start.
Built to impress
This Bentley offers an unmatched ride quality without compromising on handling thanks to the new dynamic ride system that adjusts electronic actuators on the anti-roll bar of each axle to suit riding conditions. Built for speed and comfort, Bentley has ensured that the car can deliver on both fronts with élan. Set to launch in India soon, the new Continental GT is expected to retail for `4 Crore.
