Further extending their Tiago line-up with the NRG, Tata Motors has drawn inspiration from their SUV range and added those elements to the hatchback in order to create what they like to call the ‘Urban Toughroader’. Key elements include the ‘armoured’ front design, unique wheel arches, an all-black roof, roof rails, dual tone alloys, skid plates, and a Nexon-inspired finish to the rear tailgate.

The cabin boasts of a denim fabric finish, black interiors with a dash of orange in order to lend the car a sporty appeal. You also get a cooled glove box, a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an eight-speaker Harman system, and a plethora of smart connectivity features. The car’s many merits including a spacious cabin and 242-litre luggage space remain intact on the NRG as well.

Reliable ride
It is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options that include the 1.2L Revotron petrol and the 1.05L Revotorq diesel. The brand is not offering the car with an automatic or AMT option as of now, so you only get the choice of a five-speed manual. It benefits from an intelligent electric power steering system and a specially tuned suspension that has been designed to handle rough terrain.

Add to that, the 180 mm of ground clearance is ideal for dealing with bad roads or for the more adventurous—a drive on a dirt track. Fitted with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and corner stability control, it promises to be a rather safe car as well. The Tiago NRG is priced at `5.49 lakh for the petrol version and `6.31 lakh for the diesel model.
