Storytel, the leading audiobook streaming company that has recently started operations in India, today announced the strengthening of its India portfolio through exclusive tie-ups for audiobooks with a slew of Indian publishers. Following closely on the announcement of a partnership with Rajkamal Prakashan, the titan in the Hindi Literary world, the company announced the consolidation of its collection through partnerships with leading publishing houses such as Karadi Tales, Harper Collins, Penguin Random House, Duckbill, and Vani. Storytel will make its India debut at the prestigious World Book Fair, scheduled from 6th to 14th January 2018, where the audiobook streaming booths will be placed at the stalls of some of its partner publishers.

Speaking about the announcement, Yogesh Dashrath, Country Manager India at Storytel said, “I am very excited about joining hands with these elite publishers in India. Together our new partners have a huge collection of titles that have been not just best sellers but also the most loved ones by the generation of readers. And by trusting these titles to Storytel with a format as unique as audiobooks is indicative of the innovation that both the audience and these companies are constantly seeking.”

“In just two months of our presence in India, we have already had a very encouraging response to the app. The interest it has generated only strengthens our belief that Indians love books – no matter what the format. There is space for all of us,” he concluded.

In the first phase, Storytel India will host titles in English, Hindi, and Marathi for every age group across a diverse set of genres such as romance, thriller, spirituality, horror, drama, adventure, etc. The launch catalog of Storytel India currently has more than 600 audio titles with more than 100 titles being added the very month.

Literary enthusiasts can look forward to some of the much sought-after titles on the app and with the promise of thousands and thousands of international titles coming very soon. Storytel India provides a platform to established as well as young writers to create original series in Indian languages that take listeners into a new and exciting world of stories.

The app is available on the PlayStore as well as the AppStore. The first 14 days are free for subscribers, and a fee of Rs 499/- per month will be levied thereafter.
