If you hear Raghav Meattle’s cover of George Ezra’s Budapest, you would know that he has the ability to charm you with just his voice. Add a pair of startling green eyes to that and you will understand how The Stage 2 semi-finalist has garnered a strong fan base already. As a part of the month-long music festival at Tabula Rasa Café & Bar, the folk acoustic guitarist will be performing this Friday, along with two local artistes – Alex Varghese (on drums) and Raunaq George (on bass). “This is the first time I’m jamming with them and I’ve heard quite a lot about the two. So we’ll be spending quality time rehearsing,” says the 26-year-old singer-songwriter, adding that the audience can expect a dozen of his new compositions and a few popular covers.

Even before participating in the reality show, Raghav gained a fan base among the young audience with performances at popular college events including those held at IIT Delhi and BITS Goa. Post his graduation from St Stephen’s College, Delhi he moved to Hyderabad with a corporate job. Though he continued to jam with a few friends once in a while, Raghav knew he wanted to make it big in the music industry. “Thanks to The Stage, I quit my job and moved to Mumbai. I haven’t looked back ever since,” he shares. While he is popular for his ‘simple’ lyrics that deal with everyday problems like being homesick, Raghav is also known for his love for running. “I run almost 4-5 times a week. I want to make travel plans to be a part of various marathons,” he says. Raghav is currently working on his debut album, which he plans to release in the near future.
