A medley of internationally renowned musicians will participate in the first edition of International Jazz Festival at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) here.

The much anticipated musical extravaganza is scheduled to take place from November 24 to 26 and is eyeing at huge crowds throughout the festival.

"For the first time, audiences will be able to enjoy a series of acclaimed Jazz bands and soloists from India and abroad in a varied and interesting format combining experimental styles with familiar jazz standards and new compositions with others by the masters. We hope to set the ball rolling and continue to attract the best talent in this field so that audiences get an opportunity to enjoy top-notch music and jazz," said Farrahnaz Irani, General Manager, International Music at NCPA.

The first performance at the festival will be by the band "Latination," which is influenced by the great heritage of Latin and jazz music and is a mixture of French and Indian artists. The band will perform many original compositions in the unadulterated style of Latin-jazz music as well as classics.

The organisers said that among the most exciting part of this Jazz Festival will be the Jam Session scheduled as the finale and which will feature most of the participants on stage together to perform a few well-known jazz pieces as one band. The highlight will be the improvised solos that will be performed by each of the maestros.

This 90 minute session will be a treat for the jazz audience, the organisers said.
