Gentle Giant: Country singer Don Williams passes away

Don Williams, country singer died on September 8 after a short illness. The 78-year-old was known for songs such as "Tulsa Time," "Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good" and "It Must Be Love". 

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young said in a statement on Friday, "His music will forever be a balm in troublesome times. Everyone who makes country music with grace, intelligence, and ageless intent will do so while standing on the shoulders of this gentle giant."

Williams learnt to play the guitar from his mother while growing up in Texas. After playing for the folk-pop group Pozo-Seco Singers, he went solo in 1971.  

His albums include My Heart to You, Especially for Your and Harmony. Early in 2006, Williams announced his "Farewell Tour of the World" and played the "Final Farewell Concert" in Memphis, Tennessee.
