1. You've set up a different style of playing and guitar tones. That's a pretty high bar to start with. From a guitar player's perspective, are you able to mix things up and experiment with sounds?

For me, it’s all about infinite possibilities. I absolutely love the guitar and the sounds it makes and for me, it becomes a personal quest to find out what each of these sounds are. It’s like being a chef, you find sounds that make the soup just right, you experiment and find that recipe. Each song becomes a different dish.

2. Give us a sneak peek as to into your upcoming album

I honestly don’t know how to answer this question in writing! Well, if you must know, the album comes out on the April 19, 2018. And like everything I’ve ever made, it has a massive story that precedes it. It focuses more on my music as a singer songwriter and I hope people can see the sense of growth, even though I don’t have as many people behind me.

3. Jungle was self-introspective; is that a theme that we might get a glimpse of with the new album?

That’s such a funny thing, the more introspective you are, the more relatable your music becomes. Every track has a story, and each story does look inward.

4. How much do you think has changed since your first album in 2015? (both in terms of the music industry and you as a musician)

Well a lot has changed since the first album came out. I think in today’s world it’s a lot about making your performance an experience. It’s all about giving people the chance to take away something from the show you put up. People need to know who you are, and there isn’t a better way than by making sure you give your all on stage. There’s also something to be said about the fact that people don’t buy music anymore, there’s obviously plenty of sources to stream it from. As for me, I’ve definitely looked at my sound and tried to make it as large as possible. Being one guy, it can definitely be a challenge, but I feel like that’s what I was born for!

5. Can audiences at GoMAD expect an exclusive listen to songs from the new album?

Short answer, yes. Long answer, ohhhhhhhh yes.

6. What's your set list for the festival?

I’m not giving anything away! But rest assured I hope to try and perform my music in a different way!

7. Many artists today identify themselves as an indie musician. What is your definition of indie music and do you fit into that idea?

In India it’s pretty much anything outside Bollywood. But to be honest, it’s constantly changing. The way you see today’s festivals, and clubs and venues, there’s so much to look forward to, there honestly hasn’t been a more exciting time. As for me, it’s always been a grow and adapt philosophy. Stay true to the story you have, but tell it in different ways.

8. How is 2018 looking for Dhruv Visvanath?

It’s already super exciting! I’ve got so much to look forward to over the next few months, and with the album set to release, one can understandably get really nervous. However I’m really excited to make this year, the year of Dhruv.
