Shashi Kapoor passed away Monday night at 5.20 pm in a Mumbai hospital, after a long battle with an unknown illness. As Mumbai suffers the torrential rain of Cyclone Ockhi, the legendary actor's cremation ceremony was held at noon on Tuesday at the city's Santa Cruz crematorium, after his body was taken to Prithvi Theatre earlier in the day.
Alongside family members Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor, seen paying their last respects were Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Lara Dutta, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and Salim Khan.
The actor was wrapped in tricolour, and a three-gun salute was performed in his honour. He is survived by his three children: Sanjana, Kunal and Karan Kapoor.
