Actor Mouni Roy is set to make her Bollywood debut with Gold, opposite Akshay Kumar and while she has definitely earned it, there are rumours Salman Khan had a hand in getting the role. However, Mouni Roy has shut down all the rumours by saying that the Bollywood superstar had no role in her debut and she has earned it all on her own.

The actress in a recent interview said he has no idea how the reports emerged but Salman has no role to play in her debut and in fact Gold producer Ritesh Sidhwani, can be asked about it. She also went on to state that it is unbelievable that after working for 10 years and being a Bengali, she can’t land a Bengali’s role for herself and she was deeply hurt when her talent was questioned. She added that people did not give her the credibility as an actor and while it was her moment, it was taken away.

Clearing the air about using Salman Khan’s name as publicity, Mouni said she has been Salman’s fan since she was a little girl and even had posters of him; she also loves and respects him a lot. However, she has not received any call from his production house for any role and it would be unfair for her to not get any credit for her debut.

Gold releases on August 15, Independence Day and will see Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor and Amit Sadh among others in the film. The historical sports drama has been directed by Reema Kagti and is about the first Indian Olympic Gold at 1948 Summer Olympics with the help of Tapan Das.
