Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is all set to play the role of Basavatarakam in the biopic of actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), according to reports. In a recent interview with a media organisation, Vidya said that she is currently collecting information about Basavatarakam since little is known of her life to the public. This will be the 39-year-old actress’ debut in Tollywood.
According to reports, actor Rana Daggubati will play the role of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is also the son-in-law of NTR and Rakul Preet Singh is said to play the role of Sridevi. However, an official confirmation is awaited. The cast also includes Keerthy Suresh, Mohan Babu, and Sumanth playing key roles.
Earlier this year, the film was launched in Hyderabad, amongst popular celebrities and Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu. Initially, director Teja was to direct the biopic. However, due to a few “creative differences”, he moved out and National Award-winning director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, aka Krish, will be heading the film. Actor Balakrishna will be playing his father, NTR.
