Akshay Kumar is busy with the promotions for his upcoming film Gold and while there is a lot of comparison being made to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2007 sports film Chak De! India, he has said it is frivolous. The actor will be seen playing Tapan Das, in a film based on a true story based on hockey, but during the Independence era, unlike the 2007 movie.

According to an interview with a leading publication, Akshay Kumar said it is frivolous to compare the two films because everything is eventually competition but for him it is different. For him, it is all about doing a good film and both of them are completely different. He also went on to say that people shouldn’t compare them because the films are nowhere close to each other. The actor also spoke about the film and said that while he did not know the story earlier, he was immediately impressed when director Reema Kagti narrated the script out to him and he immediately wanted to do it because the story needed to be told.

Akshay said Gold is a very difficult film and Reema handled the sports bit really well while making the film. He also went on to say that to make a film that was based on different timelines is a tough task but Reema had done a lot of homework and the work is commendable. Gold will release on August 15 and will feature Mouni Roy. Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor among others.
