I’ve been asked to play Khushwant Singh in his biopic: Rishi Kapoor

The actor went on to say it is interesting that he has been considered to play the role during this part of his career and was intrigued by the idea.

Rishi Kapoor is busy with the release of his upcoming Bollywood film Mulk, but the actor has already hinted about his next film. The actor on Sunday said that he has been approached to play a biopic and it is about a very interesting character. The revelation comes on the back of his son Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic Sanju, which has performed well at the box office.

According to various media reports, Rishi Kapoor said that he has been asked if he would play Indian writer and journalist Khushwant Singh. The actor went on to say it is interesting that he has been considered to play the role during this part of his career and was intrigued by the idea. He said the idea of a biopic being made about the writer is good because not many people know about his earlier life as it was daring and really colourful. However, he said they will have to take somebody else to play the younger version, as he would only be able to play the ‘fat’ Khushwant Singh, with the help of a little padding on the side.

Rishi Kapoor went on to say that he had been approached for the film a little over six months ago and he even agreed to it but hasn’t heard much about it since then. Khushwant Singh died in 2014 and is most famous for his literary works like Train to Pakistan, among others.
