Violinist Balabhaskar dies week after car crash in Kerala 

Noted singer-violinist Balabhaskar who was seriously injured in a car accident last week in Kerala died at a hospital early in Thiruvananthapuram this morning.

Noted singer-violinist Balabhaskar who was seriously injured in a car accident last week in Kerala passed away at a hospital early in Thiruvananthapuram this morning. His two-year-old daughter, Tejaswini Bala, had died when the family's car hit a tree after the driver lost control.

Balabhaskar, who had multiple injuries and had undergone a surgery, died at around 1 am after a cardiac arrest, hospital sources said. Balabhaskar's wife Lakshmi and the driver are recovering in hospital.

Balabhaskar, 40, and family were reportedly returning from a visit to a temple in Thrissur according to sources close to the family. The driver is believed to have dozed off and lost control of the vehicle.

The last rites of the musician will take place later today in Thiruvananthapuram. His body will be kept a Thiruvananthapuram college, his alma mater, for his fans to pay their last respects.

Balabhaskar shot to fame as a 17-year-old, when he composed music for a Malayalam film. A rising musician, he was known for his stage performances and concerts in and outside Kerala.
