In the recent events of the #MeToo campaign, many women have called out men on Twitter for sexually harassing them on different occasions. Popular comedian Kaneez Surka on Wednesday in a shocking revelation said fellow comedian Aditi Mittal forcefully kissed her on her mouth on stage out of the blue and without her consent two years ago. The comedian said she was left humiliated, shocked and completely stripped of choice.
In the note which she shared on Twitter, Kaneez went on to say that the incident happened at a comedy show in Andheri in Mumbai in the presence of at least 100 women and many other comedians. The comedian said that Aditi not only kissed her on her mouth but also put her tongue inside her mouth, while she was still on stage. Kaneez added that every person is entitled choice and boundaries and Aditi violated hers on that day. However, when she mustered the courage to tell her about it a year ago, she first apologised but soon turned hostile towards her. Mittal’s behaviour got Surka confused and she even felt hurt about it.
Interestingly, Kaneez reached out to her again on Monday and requested her to come out with a public apology, without having to call her out but she denied the incident even happening in the first place and even told Kaneez to check her facts. The comedian said she has proof but believes that people trust the victim and said her actions from yesterday have hurt her even more, which made her not want to be silent anymore about the issue. Kaneez said only a public apology will be closure for her and went on to add that men shouldn’t use this for their own agenda and instead respect her calling out the name.
