American stand-up comedian Bill Cosby was on Tuesday jailed between three to 10 years in jail after he was found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. The judge called him a “predator” and was booked for an incident with his one-time friend Andrea Constand who was drugged and sexually assaulted at his Philadelphia home in 2004.

According to reports, Bill, who was found guilty in April, is the first celebrity to be charged for sexual assault after the #MeToo campaign started in 2017 after many women spoke out against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein for assaulting them. The comedian who is famously known as ‘America’s Dad’, will spend three years in a Pennsylvania prison before he is eligible for supervised release, according to the court; but he could also end up spending 10 years in prison. The Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas denied the Cosby’s request for bail and was shackled by his hands at feet as he left the court.

Andrea Constand was one among several women who gave a testimony in court against Bill. While another victim by the name Chelan Lasha expected up to 30 years, she is glad he at least got 10 years for all the incidents, among which he was drugged and groped in the 1980s. Cosby who shot to fame playing Dr. Cliff Huxtable in the 1980s television comedy “The Cosby Show" was also fined 25,000 dollars.
