Bollywood's bad boy Salman Khan got convicted in a 1998 Blackbuck case during the shoot of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' on Friday to spent his first night in prison.However, there has been a mixed response from various fans but the industry seems to be on his side and among more prominent figures, Shatrughan Sinha makes the list.
The family friend and former Bollywood star visited the family on Thursday evening but his daughter Sonakshi Sinh reached much earlier to spend time with the family. The younger Sinha who made her debut with Salman Khan's'Dabangg' shot to fame after her brilliant performance in the movie as the female lead.
Shatrughan Sinha said the verdict of the Jodhpur court has been a little too harsh and Salman has already suffered enough in this case.
The yesteryear actor also went on to add that while he does have respect for the judiciary, the actor has dealt with too much in the last 20 years after being in an out of Jodhpur court and prisons. The added five-year sentence makes it even worse as it will now become a 25-year sentence to the 52-year-old, he added.
The actor also questioned as to why the others involved in the case were not punished and it was only the 'Dabangg' star who had to pay the price for the alleged crime.
Actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and Tabu were among the others with Salman Khan but were acquitted of charges. The actor-turned-politician also went on to say that Salman is one of the most kindest and generous human beings he has know so why jail him when he can do more outside.
Interestingly, Shatrughan also went on to add that Salman was paying the price for being a celebrity and if he was not, he wouldnt have to suffer so much.
Samir Soni, the husband of Neelam, another actress involved in the case echoed similar sentiments saying that the celebrity status makes a good example for people to deter others.
