Manoj Bajpayee beats Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh to win Best Actor award at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Interestingly, he is not the only one to win an award for the film as director Dipesh Jain also won Best Director for the film.

Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee won the Best Actor award at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Australia for the Hindi psychological drama, Gali Guleiyan. Interestingly, he is not the only one to win an award for the film as director Dipesh Jain also won Best Director for the film based on the life of one man, who wants to go beyond the walls of his house in Delhi, to find human connection. 

According to a media report, Manoj, two-time National Award winner and Dipesh won two out of six awards, the film was nominated for. The other nominees in the category for Best Actor included Akshay Kumar for Pad Man, Ranbir Kapoor for Sanju, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for Padmaavat, and Varun Dhawan for October, among others. Gali Guleiyan also won a Special Jury Mention in the Best Indie Film category. A happy Manoj Bajpayee said he couldn’t be more happy to win the award especially with so many other films across genres being a part of the nominations. 

Gali Guleiyan director Dipesh Jain is a newcomer and Manoj Bajpayee plays lead in the film which will release on September 7. The film also stars Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi and Shahana Goswami along with debutant child actor Om Singh.
