Padmaavat banned in these states despite clearance, will affect revenue drastically

After long battles and even longer list of controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat is finally releasing on January 25. But even before the film is released it has been officially banned in four states, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

The ban on release is sure to affect the box office revenue of the movie on a large scale. According to reports, for any wide-reaching Bollywood movie, Rajasthan contributes 5-6%, Gujarat 10-11%, and Madhya Pradesh 4-5% to the entire revenue. With the ban, a loss of approximately 25 percent of the movie's revenue is expected.

Padmaavat is releasing alongside Akshay Kumar's much-awaited movie, Padman, which will lead to another box office clash.
