Oscars 2018 Highlights: Sam Rockwell, Lee Smith, Allison Janney pick up awards
Having started by offering support to anti-workplace harassment initiatives like ‘Time’s Up’, ‘Me Too’, and ‘Never Again’, host Jimmy Kimmel took the stage for a second consecutive year in a row at the 90th Academy Awards.
From Greta Gerwig being the first woman to be nominated for her directorial debut Lady Bird, to Timothée Chalamet being the youngest nominee at the Oscars, Jimmy spoke about the many firsts at the historic 90th Academy Awards.
The first award of the night was Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was presented by Viola Davis. Sam Rockwell won the award for his performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
The next award was for Makeup and Hairstyling and actress Gal Gadot and actor Armie Hammer presented the award to Kazuhiro Tsuji, David Malinowski and Lucy Sibbick for Darkest Hour.
Eva Marie Sain presented the awards for the Costume Design category and Mark Bridges won the Oscar for Daniel Day-Lewis starrer Phantom Thread.
The next category was Documentary (Feature) and Greta Gerwig and Laura Dern presented it to Bryan Fogel and Dan Cogan for Icarus.
Actors Eiza González and Ansel Elgort presented the Academy award for Sound Editing to Richard King and Alex Gibson for Dunkirk and the award for Sound Mixing to Gregg Landaker, Gary A. Rizzo and Mark Weingarten for the same movie.
Lupita Nyong'o and Kumail Nanjiani presented the Academy award for Production Design to Paul Denham Austerberry Shane Vieau and Jeffrey A. Melvin for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.
Actress Rita Morena presented the Academy award for Foreign Language Film to Chilean film A Fantastic Woman.
Mahershala Ali presented the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role to Allison Janney for her performance in I, Tonya.
Stars of ‘The Last Jedi’ Mark Hamill, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac and the effervescent BB-8 were called on stage to present the Academy award for Animated Short Film and Kobe Bryant and Glen Keane picked up the Oscar for Dear Basketball.
Lee Unkrich and Darla K. Anderson picked up the Oscar for Coco in the Animated Feature Film category.
Gina Rodriguez and Tom Holland presented the Academy award for Visual Effects to John Nelson, Gerd Nefzer, Paul Lambert and Richard R. Hoover bagged the Oscar for Ryan Gosling starrer Blade Runner 2049.
Matthew McConaughey presented the next Oscar for Lee Smith for Film Editing for his work in Dunkirk.
