Without a doubt, the big event this week, especially for all the cricket fans, was the IPL auctions, where we waited with bated breath to find out who team CSK would be. I got to spend the day surrounded by a sea of yellow, with the Chennai Super Kings fans proving that they were worth their salt. From spouting stats to making up chants to doing the DJ Bravo dance, there was nothing they couldn’t and wouldn’t do. While some of the choices were a definite surprise, overall everyone seemed happy with the final line up. It’s definitely going to be an interesting season ahead.
The next venue of choice has been the newly opened Palladium at the Phoenix MarketCity, with two events this past week and more to come. Our first stop was at Vajor, who opened their doors with a special girls day out featuring comedian Niveditha Prakasam. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s the winner of TLC’s Queens of Comedy and despite (what I would call) a challenging setting, Niveditha had us cracking up with her take on women’s fashion. My favourite bit was her imitation of fashion bloggers and their signature poses. Meanwhile across the mall, another event was underway, with celebrity stylist Amandeep Kaur leading and guiding Chennai’s fledgeling fashionistas to an even more stylish way of life. The final stop was at Kiehl’s where the invite was for an afternoon of ‘Beauty Apothecary and consultation over coffee and canapes’. No one would turn down the offer of being pampered by the experts, and fans of the brand were super excited at its arrival to Chennai (finally). Guests included a fun mix of all ages, all of whom enjoyed their individual consultations in a casual setting. For those that missed it, there was some serious FOMO with running commentary from the social influencers on Instagram. The goodie bags were awesome.
And last but not the least it rained celebs at the launch of Karthik Srinivasan’s Calendar Once Upon a Time at Ramada Chennai Egmore, featuring starlets in princess avatars. Hosted by VJ DD who looked quite the princess herself, the evening was high on both celeb quotient and bling.
