This week was a mix of cool gadgets, pretty faces, food and fashion. Let me make that — lots of food and lots of fashion. It was a meeting of the two at the launch of the Gourmet Bar at Novotel Chennai Chamiers Road, where Shweta Gupta hosted a special luncheon to showcase the new spot in all its glory. From pastel dresses, to fruity drinks to the specially curated menu, all the elements added up just right for a mid-summer brunch. We spent more than a little time at the salad and sandwich bar, where we chose from a plethora of exotic ingredients, for a one-of-a-kind dish.

The food and fashion trail continued to run side by side, with one group heading over to Palladium, for the launch of PappaRoti, while others got suited up for the men’s Black tie fashion show at the same venue. Another group headed to the launch of Fiori, Amortela’s very own label. After loads of buzz on social media, shining light on ethical fashion, the arrival of the new label has been heavily anticipated. Guests included members of the fashion fraternity — designers, stylists, bloggers and popular P3 faces, all of whom made a bee line for their favourites.

The rest of the weekend saw us engulfed in a flurry of shopping with multiple exhibitions and showcases around the city. A special mention to those who managed to make it to all of them. First up was the Luxury Expo at Buva House where Chennai’s swish set were seen doing some serious indulging. Everything from art to diamonds, to state-of-the-art technology, had the space buzzing. The star of the show of course was the Ford Mustang, no surprises there. Next up, was Arti Bagdy’s summer showcase at Crowne Plaza. The ladies didn’t need much of an excuse to do some shopping, stocking up on their ‘pre-festive’ wardrobes. And finally it was la-la-land for the little ones at Mini Roo’s Whimsical Wonderland, where the gathering of the next-gen moms was underway. While the kids (and adults) enjoyed the candy and cupcakes, the parents got to catch up and exchange notes.
