My travels this week took me to Bengaluru and Pune, with the former allowing me to witness one of the most exciting matches ever. The energy at the Chinnaswamy stadium was electric as the crowds waited for the clash between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. You gotta love a closely fought battle, and I must say the fans in the stands kept us equally entertained, as the red versus yellow war continued right through. And yes, the ‘Whistle Podu’ army was there too, having made the journey from Chennai to cheer for their team.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, Palladium continues to be the place to be, with new brands opening their doors, week after week. From flash fashion shows to fun demos, the fashionistas have truly been kept busy. This weekend saw the launch of Springfield, with the promise of an exciting evening by hosts Roshni Hemdev and Pavitra Krishnaswamy. The two young ladies put together a fun evening, showcasing popular members of Chennai’s Gen Y, from different walks of life. The influencer brigade included model Santana Lambert, make-up artist Prakruti Ananth and photographer Sudharshan who did a mini catwalk, showing off their specially curated looks. From cape jackets to fun florals, the collection oozed a casual-chic summer vibe.

Just across the way at Phoenix MarketCity, it was a gathering of a slightly different demographic for a performance by legendary singer Pankaj Udhas. No late arrivals here, with everyone in their seats, ready and waiting for the show to begin. The audience was taken down memory lane as the famous vocalist performed his hits from over the years, peppered with his signature sharing of ‘tidbits’ of information between songs. The difference between a nazm and mukhda, for example. He closed the show with a medley, at the end of which the audience was on their feet for a standing ovation.

This week also saw the swish set at Nico’s Treasure trunk — a special showing of Ratika Haksar’s latest capsule collection at Nicobar. Guests included a mix of Ratika loyalists as well as fans of brand Nicobar. All of them loved the story behind the collection and favourites included a striking two-finger statement ring.
