Chennai's funny man, Karthik Kumar aka KK, is on a new mission. The stand up comedian from Evam Stand-up Tamasha is back on stage with Blood Chutney, a new set that presents everything from difficult situations becoming comical to the hypocrisy of our very existence.

"There has been so much turmoil at the same time in the world around me. From Cyclone Vardah hitting Chennai to Jayalalitha's passing away, whenever something bad happens, we are filled with sadness or anger, it's very difficult to feel humour at that time. It doesn't mean we are disrespecting, we are offering a different perspective," explains Karthik. Through Blood Chutney, the comedian is attempts to bounce off ideas about different issues and subjects that keep us engaged today. From cyber trolling, Bigg Boss to nationalism and body shaming, Karthik packs all of these topics with a punch of humour.

"There is a rise of new found patriotism. Today every second tweet is called anti-national, so I question what is this patriotism, where is it coming from. What is this patriotism that we are comparing with each other. I move from there to shame and shaming. Indians are peculiar breed of human beings who are taught by their parents to be ashamed of their bodies. Therefore the existence of Sunny Leone in a country like ours is a huge irony. I will be talking a lot about her too in the show," says Karthik. The comedian begins the Blood Chutney tour in Bengaluru, and takes the show to other cities in India, following it up with shows in the USA, UK, Oman, Dubai and other countries.

September 16, 7 pm. At Good Shepherd Auditorium. Tickets (Rs 249 upwards ) on bloodchutney.com
