Ricky Kej environmental music program called off
An Environmental Musical Program by Ricky Kej was being discussed to be held as part of the upcoming 60th year celebrations of Vidhana Soudha. Ricky Kej had offered the government to perform for no fee whatsoever, thus causing zero expense to the government.
Given the recent concerns surrounding the celebrations, Grammy award winning musician (the one and only from Karnataka) Ricky Kej made a statement saying, “When I was approached to perform an Environmental Consciousness Musical Concert for the 60th year celebrations of the Vidhana Soudha, I was absolutely thrilled, as a mark of my honor, respect and love for our state, its government and the magnanimous Vidhana Soudha. From the very beginning, I had clearly stated and offered to do this with no monetary compensation of any sort from the government. I was happy to personally bear expenses of bringing international award winning artists from over 6 countries, and a large number of renowned artists from Karnataka, making this a true Global Karnataka collaboration of over 200 musicians. The suggestion was well accepted. But due to recent problems of cutting down the two-day long program to one day, it became difficult to accommodate my two-hour long program. Hence, I along with the State Government authorities have mutually and cordially agreed to hold back my program in the larger interest of accommodating all the other programs. I wish the State Legislature and the Government of Karnataka my sincerest best wishes for a successful and meaningful celebration of the 60th year completion of this temple of democracy – Our Vidhana Soudha. Further, I would be more than happy to perform, with no monetary expectations, any day in future for this auspicious occasion of its 60th year celebrations."
