Lakmé Fashion Week, held the country’s biggest model hunt for the upcoming Winter/Festive 2018 season at St. Regis, Mumbai and there are six new faces to make their debut on the ramp.
A special panel of industry experts chose 6 winners who will walk the ramp at the upcoming season. Priti Jana (from Kolkata), Rewati Chetri (from Assam), Dechka Asthakumar (from Bangalore), Mariana Falaschi (from Italy), Sharvi Bhujbal (from Mumbai) and Rishita Koruturu (from Hyderabad), were chosen from over 100 aspiring models.
Lakmé Fashion Week continues to stand true to its commitment of providing a debut platform to new and emerging runway talent. LFW is credited with introducing some of India’s most successful models, including Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Yana Gupta to name a few.
The jury included experts from the Indian fashion industry such as singer and actress – Sophie Choudry; ace Fashion Designer of Falguni Shane Peacock – Shane Peacock; Fashion Choreographer and Show Director – Anu Ahuja; Vice President and Head – Fashion, IMG Reliance – Jaspreet Chandok; Head of Innovations, Lakmé – Ashwath Swaminathan.
Sophie Choudry, Singer and Actress said, “We saw an extremely diverse and eclectic mix of girls – of different shapes and sizes from every corner of the country. What was most important for me was a fresh face, personality and confidence on the ramp. We found girls who broke the clutter and stood out. I can’t wait to see them walk the ramp this season.”
Shane Peacock, Fashion Designer said, “As a designer there are a few important things I look for – height, a confident walk, and charisma which is most important on the ramp. While the talent at the model auditions was exceptional, I think the girls we have selected are a unique blend of all three, and I’m very excited to see them walk the ramp this season.”
Anu Ahuja, Choreographer and Show Director said, “A girl that stands apart from the rest, catches the jury’s attention instantly and confidence on the ramp is key. The girls we chose today, while they stood out from the rest, are still diamonds in the rough, I look forward to grooming them for the season.”
Ashwath Swaminathan, Head of Innovations, Lakmé said, “The turnout at today’s model auditions was great and it was nice to see the enthusiasm in all contestants. Lakmé Fashion Week is a good platform for young talent to start their career and we are confident that the winners will really enjoy walking the runway this Winter/Festive season.”
Jaspreet Chandok, Head of Fashion IMG Reliance said, “Each season, we choose fresh faces who have in the past gone on to walk national and international ramps. We hope that the girls selected today too receive the same opportunities and are able to build a flourishing career.”
Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 26th August 2018 at St. Regis, Mumbai.
