Sport is dynamic and to excel, you need a mix of physical and mental endurance, strength and mobility. To further help athletes maximize their potential by tapping into their bodies and minds, Nike is launching new yoga workouts this season. The do-anywhere routines are between 15 and 45 minutes long and are part of the free Nike+ Training Club app.

“At Nike, our goal is to make people better athletes,” says Nike Master Trainer and yogi Branden Collinsworth. “That’s why we create programming that prepares you for whatever life has to throw at you.”

Collinsworth, along with Nike Master Trainers and yogis Traci Copeland and Leah Kim have a hand in the development of all the app’s routines. Just like with other NTC app programs, each yoga workout falls in one of three pillars: endurance (flows that help you build stamina); strength (typically involving flows that hold poses longer to increase muscle strength); and mobility (restorative sessions that aim to release tension and help you recharge mentally).

“These new workouts are really powerful because they offer the chance to practice no matter what your goal is or where you are on your yoga journey,” says Kim. “With the varying workout focus areas, lengths and poses, there is something for everyone – from the beginner yogi looking to improve their practice to those who are more advanced.”
To flow on the go, just choose your workout based on the amount of time you have, the style of workout you’re craving and whether you’re in the mood for a beginner or advanced routine, or as a complement to another activity such as running or training. “Say you run, what's great to do after a run? Maybe 15 minutes of yoga to create a little more flexibility within your body and reset your mind,” says Copeland.

Offering a range of shorter-session lengths makes finding space for yoga more approachable, so that you can easily build a healthy habit and create a balanced athletic life. “This isn’t about just doing yoga on what would otherwise be an off day, but actually making yoga a regular part of your routine,” says Copeland.

If you take advantage of custom programming on NTC, yoga will be integrated into your personalized plan— seamlessly linked to strength and conditioning sessions or treadmill intervals. “Now, Nike is not only delivering the best training experience, but we are leading the way in holistic athleticism, once again reinforcing that notion that if you have a body, you're an athlete and we're here to help you tap into that,” says Collinsworth.

If you already have the NTC app, search “yoga” to find the new workouts. If you don’t have the app, search your app store for the free download.
