Some like it ruffled: Shriya Bhupal's new collection hits the stores
Constricting designs and Indian summers don’t go hand in hand but that does not mean one has to suffer boring silhouettes. Keeping in mind, the soaring temperatures, designer Shriya Bhupal – known from dressing the who’s who of B’town such as Alia Bhatt and Radhika Apte – has crafted her new collection, Summer of Love for her label Shriya Som. Showcased at last season’s Lakmé Fashion Week, her latest designs boast of playful ruffles, tonal florals, feathers and fringes.
Trench it up
The graduate of New School of Design, Parsons, New York, has come up with trench coat-inspired and ruffled dresses. “I tell my clients two or three ways to style the same dress. Most of the outfits one sees on the ramp are quite layered, but can be styled accordingly,” says the Hyderabad-based designer. One can also expect gathers and tiers in sheer tulles and breezy silks layered. Her spring/summer prêt is an ode to the modern female entrepreneurs and also has a bohemian touch. The pale pink ruffled gown, with multiple layers of ruffles, clinched at the waist, worn by her showstopper Disha Patani at LFW is the stuff of red carpet dreams. “One of the top picks is a mini mirror dress in grey,” adds the designer.
Known to be fussy about her colour palette, this time the designer, who is in her late-twenties has introduced yellow apart from her constant hues like greys and onion pink. “It took me a long time to choose the right shade of yellow that I want to work with,” says the designer with a smile. For the fashionistas in Hyderabad, her spring/summer collection is now available in Ogaan.
