Apart from red carpet moments at Festival de Cannes and occasional collaborations between couturiers like Christian Louboutin and Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Parisian fashion hasn’t really made a grand entrance into the Indian market yet. If one is willing to bear the hefty customs duty, going on an international shopping spree is not improbable. But, entrepreneur Vandana Anurag is out to make every fashionista’s life simpler. With over 25 years of experience in the lifestyle and fashion industry, Vandana’s week-old platform titled Parisian Boudoir, highlights popular designer brands from the fashion capital including Berenice minus customs duty. But she insists that she isn’t going to ‘desify’ it.“The spirit of Parisian brands is not restricted to a zone, a country or an occasion. For the French, fashion is a pure celebration of life. Parisian
fashion is ageless and effortless. So, it will appeal to Indian sensibilities as well,” claims Vandana.

Staying chic
Currently exhibiting the SS17 collection from over six French designers, this Kolkata-born entrepreneur’s online portal sports pieces inspired by the Fall edition of Paris Fashion Week (2016). While fabrics range from various weights of silks to other viscous materials, the feminine silhouettes present at the platform showcase subtle design elements such as plaited shoulder straps. So, regardless of whether you’re on the lookout for rock chic or sport chic this summer, Parisian Boudoir ticks all the boxes with major brands like Cyril Paillot’s Nue 19.04 and young labels such as Parapluie.

Savoir-faire
Among the many names present on the website, one of the most acclaimed is Les Petites, a 25-year-old couture label by Isabelle Bénchu. Known for her season-inspired pieces crafted in exquisite materials such as cashmere, lace and satin, Isabelle’s brand has been widely acknowledged for its tasteful designs weaving elements of Parisian art with vintage charm. Mostly aiming for capsule collections from prominent brands like Les Petites, Vandana’s startup serves up a wide range of apparel including casuals as well as power dressing basics such as poplin button down shirts. Apart from adding more the lables to the platform, this MBA graduate’s future plans include extending her line of products towards beauty and lifestyle products from the region.
