Timri boutique opens at a bigger space with a crop of new labels

New entrants include Har.Yarn.Vee, The Indian Sparrpw and AlterEgo

The story of Timri is inspiring. First located at a small space in Varthur, the store moved to the buzzing Indira Nagar area barely two years ago. Now, they find themselves relocating to a larger, more visible space in Indira Nagar’s 13th main. The boutique, owned and curated by Kusum Rohra, a former IT professional, stocks carefully curated garments made from handwoven Indian textiles, apart from accessories and home decor. “The new location is on the main road so we’ll get a lot more visibility. Plus, the store is bigger, due to which I’ve been able to introduce new labels,” says Kusum.

Whitewashed walls with quirky wall-mounted details give the store a fun, informal vibe. Each room is dedicated to a different section — saris, jewellery, gifting and contemporary wear. A separate room will hold regular pop-ups. The outdoor area stocks stained glass garden accessories from Bengaluru-based Glasshopper.

With the new store, Timri introduces Kolkata-based Loom Theatre. The brand’s signature collection includes saris made from gamcha fabric, linen, khadi and jamdani. Also on Timri’s shelves, for the first time, are Alter Ego, The Indian Sparrow and Har.Yarn.Vee. Alter Ego crafts tunics and dresses in Chanderi and mushru fabric, while The Indian Sparrow offers naturally-dyed and handblock-printed tops and dresses in organic cotton. Created by village groups and NGOs across India, Har.Yarn.V takes inspiration from Haryana for clothes that are easy and fuss-free.

Rs.1,500 upwards. At 13th Main, Indira Nagar. Details: 9665557338
