IF YOU’VE followed Funky Fish’s pop-ups before, you’ll know that they bring to the table the most stylish of designers, and an uncompromising shopping experience. They’re back again now with The Mid Summer Fix, an exclusive showcase of India’s 20 gen-next designers. While some of them have already walked runways and fashion weeks, a few of them are making their city debut. This collective will bring in some of the best high-end western and Indo-western clothing, along with wedding essentials like jewellery and lehengas. Created and conceptualised by duo Nikita Kapoor Bajaj and Pavithra Sagar, Funky Fish’s new edit is a stylish mix of sophisticated, smart and contemporary. “We have a lot of designers coming in from across the country. We have Ezra from Mumbai, Archana Rao from Hyderabad and Sajeda Lehry from Ludhiana,” says Nikita Kapoor Bajaj. “They are high-end fashion labels that are all showcasing their most recent collection. We even have a special addition to the showcase with Araya Fine Jewellery from Mumbai, which is an exclusive line of bespoke diamonds, handcrafted to perfection.”

Farah Sanjana is a designer and self-named label is something you must look out for. From featuring her retro glam collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2017 to her new edgy collection, the brand has taken
inspiration from architecture,
origami and metal work. “We will be bringing in our signature pieces that include a Indo-western range called the Seduction of Leather,” says Farah. “This range has alot of pant saris and coordinated separates. You can also find monochrome prints and coordinated vests.” Farah will be bringing in a good mix of 60 western and Indian pieces, which are all lightweight pieces, and available off the rack. These include stitched saris with blouses, fun resort wear and their signature printed pants. Watch out for our leather cutwork pant sari which is the hot seller for the season!”

There’s something rather vintage and romantic about Bangalore-based label Skirt & Co. With first-hand travelogues for inspiration, the one-year old brand brings designs through stories from unique parts of the world. Skirts, gowns, saris and separates make up for their line and their colour palette has sombre pastels like modest mint, rich blush and lilac-hued embroideries. Premium silk with delicate hand embroidery is their USP, says 32-year-old Mansi Bihani of Skirt & Co. “Our line has a lot of powdery tints with dainty pearls and ruffled trims,” says the 27-year-old designer. With weddings becoming more a destination-based affair, Skirt & Co’s blush pastels crafted with vivid tonal elements could play perfect conversation starters at outdoor soirees. Mansi will be bringing with her an exciting mix of over 50-60 pieces.

Mumbai-based Seams is making their mark in the city for the first time.
