“For New Yorkers, restaurants are our living rooms—places to engage with friends and family, and to slow down from New York City’s fast pace,” said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO.  “NYC Restaurant Week provides locals and visitors with a unique opportunity to experience the City’s fine dining scene at an extraordinary value. With the month long 25th anniversary edition, celebrating in the dining capital of the world has never been easier.”

In celebration of the 25th anniversary, the first-ever NYC Restaurant Week Summer Tasting Series events are now on sale, offering diners exclusive tasting menus with chef-selected wine pairings. Supporting local NYC charities City Harvest, Citymeals on Wheels and Food Bank NYC, tickets are selling quickly and may be purchased for $75 per person at nycrestaurantweektastingseries.splashthat.com. The events are Bâtard Tribeca (Lower Manhattan)tonight, July 24, Buttermilk Channel (Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn) on August 1, Maiella (Long Island City, Queens) on August 6, and Amada (Lower Manhattan) on August 14. Follow along with the series on social media with hashtag #NYCTastingSeries.

NYC Restaurant Week is the first dining program of its kind, established by Tim Zagat and Joe Baum as a four-day lunch dining promotion during the 1992 Democratic National Convention, coined “NY92.” The program included just under 100 participating restaurants, in which 12 remain current participants. Following the success of the summer 1992 season, the program has continued to flourish and evolve in New York City and has inspired similar dining concepts in destinations both nationally and internationally.
