1131 opens with a unique assortment of appetisers and signature cocktails

A new bar and kitchen in Indira Nagar

Indira Nagar’s happening 100 feet road gets another bar and kitchen, this one is called 1131, named after the address of the building. Spread across three floors, the chic venue has an open courtyard and walls covered with greenery. We visited the place for an early weekday lunch.

Some of the refreshing cocktails are the vodka-based Curry Patta and Bangalore Sunset and whisky-based Smoking Joe and Rob Roy’s Head. The food menu boasts Pan Asian, Indian Fusion, Italian and Mediterranean delicacies. We started with the crunchy Broccoli and Water Chestnuts, from their Asian section, which were crisply fried with salt and pepper. From the Indian section, we recommend the creamy, baked Jerusalem Artichokes, and the Lucknavi Bhel, a mix of peas, black gram and corn.

One of our favourites was the Absolut Fueled Pineapple Sukka, a unique blend of the traditional sukka preparation and a flambe. Dim sum lovers should try the Prawn Har Gow and the Sage and Spring Green Chicken Dim Sum. Most of the focus on the menu is on the appetiser section, but the main course has interesting choices. Try the Spinach, Feta and Caramelised Pears Pizza, Watermelon Curry or the Tagliatelle con pollo Marrakesh, a Turkish-inspired dish, if you’re feeling adventurous. With an amazing view of the main road, a simulated golf course and unusual food offerings, 1131 is not just another gastro pub.
