The Terrace

There’s always a lot happening in Koramangala. The hub of food, music and parties, the suburb though not in the best of conditions (owing to the dug up roads), is still seeing new places opening up. The newest to open is rooftop pub The Terrace at Gilly’s Redefined. The large, spacious and warmly lit, dinner-only space offers a good mix of food that complements the bar menu.

Starting right
We started our meal with Sabzi ki Shammi. This seemed like a take on the famous Lucknowi galouti kebabs. The only difference being that these were vegetarian. Soft, velvety and cheesy, they just melt in the mouth. Next we tried the Tawa Masala Surmai (fried seer fish). Lightly coated and marinated with red chillies, ginger garlic and garam masala, this qualifies as a classic starter. The fish was shallow fried, so the coating was crisp. This pairs really well with a mug of beer. Paneer loyalists cannot miss the Paneer Tikka. Paneer squares stuffed with mint chutney and finely chopped vegetables and garlic, this one is a different take on the usual tikka. The crisp vegetables in luscious paneer pockets make this one a delight to eat.
We tried the Drunken Prawns next. This dish features crisp, fried prawns flambeed with vodka. What bothered us was that the batter wasn’t fried well and there was a hint of rawness. The menu, apart from the usual pub eats, also offers Asian fare and continental dishes. From the Asian section, we tried the Pok Choi Dimsums and Prawn Dimsums. Both the options are worth a try, but we prefer the former, purely  for the crunchy filling.
For mains, we tried Thai Green Curry with Rice. This was another classic that was bang on. The fragrant curry with a mix of flavours such as coconut, green chillies, bell peppers and garlic complemented the rice well. We ended our meal with their cheesecake. Not too sweet on the palate, this was another classic that The Terrace seems to have gotten right. If you are in the mood to drink and eat some interesting appetisers, then this is the perfect place.

Rs 1,400 for two. At Koramangala.
