Quirky interiors, bright walls, hand-painted kettles on tables, Rajasthani applique work umbrellas, and a huge wall mural of a bus are a few elements that give a very Indian vibe to the newly opened North Indian restaurant, Desi Deck. Located on Brigade Road, this new eatery has an elaborate menu with a lot on offer.

Easy start
We paid them a visit on a weekday to try some of their signature dishes. The Corn Patties (corn and mashed potato) were crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Next, we tried the Paneer Tak-a-Tak (Tikka). Served like a sizzler, with bell peppers, the paneer was coated with a red chilli paste and grilled to perfection. The paneer was fresh and soft.

Butter fix
For main course, we tried the Malai Kofta and Murgh Makhani. The Malai Kofta made with grated paneer, cashews and raisins was fried and soaked in a rich, creamy white gravy. The flavours of the dry fruits were quite prominent.ith cardamom being the highlight. But we felt that the kofta could have been a lot more softer. The Murgh Makhani made up for the shortcomings of the previous dish. The succulent meat, which was cooked in a thick and creamy tomato gravy left us craving for more. It paired well with both the butter naan and the rice we were served on the side.

Satisfied with a limited but delicious main course, we moved on to the desserts. We tried the Gajar Ka Halwa and Gulab Jamun Cheesecake. The Gajar Ka Halwa hits your palate with all its richness. The heavy ghee flavour was the highlight. Topped with fried cashew nuts, this certainly cannot be missed. The Gulab Jamun Cheesecake truly surprised us. A portion of cheesecake is stuffed with a gluab jamun. So it’s only after you have taken several bites of the cheesecake that you hit the epicentre where the gulab jamun is hidden. Overall, Desi Deck scores well by sticking to authentic North Indian cuisine.
