On a lazy October evening there is nothing more pleasurable than spending time, relaxing with a cup of something warm and something sweet to beat the chill. At The Polo Club, you will be transported back in time with their alfresco decor and open aired setting by a classic British garden. The nostalgic feel is now complete with their high tea sessions where you will rediscover all the quintessential treats.

Chef Sangeet Panwar, a renowned pastry chef, who has worked with The Leela Ambience Gurugram Hotel in Gurugram, Hyatt Regency in Ahmedabad, JW Marriott in Pune and much more has become the recent highlight of The Oberoi, Bengaluru. As their new Pastry and Senior Sous Chef, he has specifically curated a traditional high tea menu of bothsavoury surprises and sweet time selections paired with house coffee brews and TWG teas.

We began our high tea session with a subtly sweet green tea called the 1837 Green Tea, and ‘Savoury Nibbles.’ We loved the Avocado, Tomato and Goat Cheese on Whole Wheat Bread, for its earthy and peppery cheese balanced perfectly with the avocado texture. The other option that we couldn’t stop praising was the Pickled Egg With Rocket on Rustic Sourdough. This was a perfect bite with the flavour of the egg pairing well with the nuttiness from the leaves and the springy bread.

Moving on, we equipped ourselves with a cup of full-bodied French Earl Grey to ease us into the ‘Sweet Delights.’  From this section, we loved the Hazelnut Praline Eclairs. The softness of the eclair and richness of the cream impressed us. We also enjoyed the Mango and Passionfruit Macarons for the slightly crisp texture and fruity notes. For people who do not have a sweet tooth, the scones are a perfect fit. The warm, freshly-baked scones were buttery on the inside and melted in our mouth. It was perfectly paired with clotted cream but for those wanting to cleanse their palates, they could opt for a marmalade or strawberry preserve. Last but not the least, chocolate lovers can indulge in the Hand Rolled Ginger and Caramel Truffle. We popped it into our mouth for a much-needed chocolate buzz.

With classic and traditional tea time favourites, the new high tea menu is perfect for a leisurely evening by the lawns at The Oberoi.

Until October 14, 3 pm to 6 pm. Rs.1,875 ++ for two.

At The Polo Club - The Oberoi,  MG Road
